The Messaging & Notifications Module powers instant collaboration across project teams, contractors, and administrators through real-time chat, project channels, and automated WhatsApp site notifications.

2. How It Works

  1. Direct & Channel Chat: Team members exchange instant text messages, site photo attachments, and document links inside 1-on-1 chats or project group channels.
  2. Real-Time WebSockets: Messages and typing indicators update instantly without needing browser refreshes (powered by Laravel Reverb).
  3. WhatsApp Site Alerts: Urgent project events (such as purchase order approvals or emergency notices) can trigger automated SMS / WhatsApp messages directly to mobile phones.

4. Step-by-Step Actions

A. How to Start a Direct Chat or Project Channel

Open Messaging Module

Click Messaging in the main sidebar.

Select Recipient or Channel

Click + New Chat to select a team member, or click an existing project channel.

Type & Send

Type your message, attach site photos if needed, and press Enter / Send.

B. How to Manage Notification Preferences

Open Notification Settings

Click your profile avatar -> Notification Preferences.

Configure Delivery Channels

Toggle In-App Alerts, Email Summaries, and WhatsApp SMS notifications for specific event types (e.g. Expense Approvals, Deposit Cleared, Notice Board Updates).

Save Preferences

Click Save Notification Settings.

C. How to Filter Notifications & Search Chat History

  • Search Chat: Use the message search bar to find past chat conversations by keyword.
  • Notification Filter: Filter in-app alerts by Unread, Approvals, or Mentions.

D. How to Leave or Mute a Channel

Open Channel Settings

Click the gear icon next to any channel title.

Mute Notifications

Select Mute Notifications or Leave Group Channel.
